The city of Lodi will begin its annual leaf removal program on Monday, Nov. 12. Residents' cooperation is needed for a successful program.
Some tips for residents to ensure their leaves are picked up and keep storm drains open:
- Rake leaves beyond the toe of the gutter. This keeps the water flow unobstructed and prevents leaves from being carried into storm drains.
- Do not place leaves in plastic bags. The bags are not recycleable.
- Leaf piles containing prunings, lawn clippings or flowers will not be picked up.
- Please do not park cars on the street on pick-up days until after clean-up crews pass. Sweepers have difficulty maneuvering around parked vehicles.
- If leaf piles are placed in the street after clean-up crews pass, they will not be picked up until the next cycle. Collection crews begin work at 6:30 a.m.
- The city is divided into 10 districts for leaf pickup. It takes approximately 10 working days to complete a cycle.
- A leaf pickup scheduled will be published in the Lodi News-Sentinel every Saturday until the season ends, usually mid-January.
- If you need additional yard and garden waste carts, contact Central Valley Waste Services at (209) 369-8274.
Leaf removal ends Friday, Jan. 11.
