Tokay High's top graduates for 2007

Here are Tokay High School's top graduates for 2007:

Aaron Covarruvias

Aaron Covarruvias

College or job plans: University of California, Berkeley.

Goals for the next 10 years: Within the next 10 years, I hope to obtain a bachelor's degree in either political science of international relations. I am also considering advanced studies or law school. Most importantly, I want to be happy and find a career in which I help others and give back to the community around me.

Clubs and activities: Student Government (treasurer), Conflict Management, National Honor Society (treasurer), CSF, Link Crew, track, Spanish Club, Superintendent's Budget Advisory Committee, Lodi Cooks employee.

Most memorable experience: Not one particular experience stands out, but I will never forget my friends and all the good times we've had together. From hanging out all the time, dressing up for rallies and games, and even getting into a little trouble, we've had an amazing time, and I wouldn't change a thing.

Parents: Kim and Dave Padilla and Tom and Maria Covarruvias.

Elisa Maria Moles

Elisa Moles

College or job plans: Smittcamp Family Honors College at CSU Fresno, majoring in both music and chemistry.

Goals for the next 10 years: I plan to pursue a master's degree in flute performance. My aspiration is to perform as a member of a professional symphony orchestra; I would especially love to record music for film soundtracks! Additionally, I hope to have an accompanying job in either chemistry or teaching music.

Clubs and activities: Tokay High School Marching/Symphonic/Prep Band, Band Council secretary, All-State Honor Band, San Joaquin County Honor Band, All-Northern California Honor Band, Science Olympiad, National Honors Society, California Scholarship Federation, Central Valley Youth Symphony, elections officer for November 7, 2006, election, Elementary Science Olympiad event assistant, volunteer musician at church services.

Most memorable experience: The Tokay Band earned the opportunity to march down Main Street in Disneyland my sophomore year. I was so excited to be playing in Disneyland, but I was really nervous at the same time.

Parents: Anthony and Manina Moles.

Leylen "Laila" Mahmoud Salen (Igoby Laila)

Leylen Salen

College or job plans: UC Davis majoring in biological sciences, premed. Then I'll go to med school and become a pediatrician.

Clubs and activities: MSA ( vice president and president), Middle Eastern Club (treasurer), CSF (community service liason and lifetime member), NHS, Link Crew (commissioner), tutor elementary students, Teen Court juror.

Most memorable experience: Going to Palestine (summer of 2005). Being in another country really opened up my eyes and I got to see the land from which my family originated.

Parents: Rajiha and Mahmoud Salem.

Andrew McKelvey

College or job plans: In the fall, I will be attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, double majoring in engineering and music.

Goals for the next 10 years: After I finish my bachelor's degree, I will likely attend graduate school. I would like to hold an engineering position while still being able to perform for pay on my instrument of choice, the trumpet.
